Boat-shaped, sea blue, posy vase attributed to Malcolm Wilkinson
A small boat-shaped posy vase or open pot, slab built stoneware and decorated mainly with mottled blue-green textured glaze and possibly added oxide glazes. The piece has a curved MW monogram impressed on base.
The combination of the maker's mark and choice of glaze means this could possibly have been handmade by Devon-based potter, Malcolm "Wilkie" Wilkinson.
Malcolm "Wilkie" Wilkinson, the former Head of Art at Ilfracombe Academy during the 2000s, has been working at his home studio in Woolacombe, Devon, since 2011, and uses the name Woolypots for his pottery.
