Drayton Manor Park Pottery bud vase by Chris Carter
A finely-made, small, brown glazed studio pottery vase, produced by Christopher Carter, likely during the period of the early to mid-1980s, when he had a shop at Drayton Manor Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire, and then selling through galleries. The vase has the maker's mark impressed in the base.
Chris Carter set up his own pottery studio in 1971 at Highfield Farm in Grendon, Warwickshire. He sold from his studio and then later from his shop at Drayton Manor Park, also giving demonstrations of throwing pots on the wheel. In 1986, he left Drayton Manor to sell his more creative and bespoke pots through a number of galleries around the country.
