Turquoise pressed glass basket
Victorian pressed glass basket, similar to those made by Henry Greener/Greener & Co of the Wear Flint Glassworks in Sunderland - this example has no moulded registration or other trademarks, but has a similar handle to those produced by Greeners. Pressed glass was a new invention in the Victorian era making novelty and coloured glass items affordable to most classes and items such as this would have been a treasured addition to the tea table or on a sideboard or cheffonier.
