Wells Pottery slipware bowl with sgrafitto tulip decoration
Wells Pottery, Somerset was established around 1961 by Geoffrey Barfoot (1918-2009) and Olive Barfoot (nee Bean - 1923-2013) but little has been documented about this pottery. From pieces on the market it appears the pottery continued for at least a couple of decades. This bowl has the impressed mark 'WELLS' and is decorated in their typical style of patterns cut through a honey coloured slip glaze.
